Dog waste left to accumulate on the ground will attract Rodents and insects which carry their own diseases. Worse, the dog waste poses a threat of Salmonella and parasites to humans and their pets. When dog waste is not picked up and properly disposed of, it can wash into nearby bodies of water and be carried off in storm drains. It is important as a dog guardian to pick up after your pet to protect yourself, your pet, your children, and the environment.

7-12-420 Removal of excrement
 
No person shall appear with a pet upon the public ways or within public places or upon the property of another,absent that person's consent, without some means for the removal of excrement; nor, shall any person fail to remove any excrement deposited by such pet. This section shall not apply to a blind person while walking his/her dog.

7-12-430 Violation- penalty
 
Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this chapter for which no specific penalty is provided, shall be fined not less than $10.00 nor more than $200.00 for each offense.
